Pantera is an American heavy metal band established in Arlington, Texas, by the Abbott brothers. The classic lineup solidified when vocalist Phil Anselmo and bassist Rex Brown joined in the mid-1980s. Throughout the 1990s, Pantera became instrumental in developing groove metal, blending heavy riffs with rhythmic intensity that defined the era. The band achieved massive commercial success, selling approximately 20 million records globally and earning four Grammy nominations. Recognized as one of heavy metal's most influential acts, Pantera's legacy continues with current touring members Zakk Wylde and Charlie Benante.
