Cowboys from Hell is Pantera's fifth studio album and their first released through a major label, coming out in mid-1990 on Atco Records. The album marked the beginning of a long working relationship with producer Terry Date. It represented a significant stylistic shift for the band, moving away from glam metal influences toward a heavier musical approach. The album is widely regarded as among the earliest examples of groove metal.
