Reinventing the Steel served as Pantera's ninth and final studio album, arriving in early 2000 through Elektra Records and East West Records. The release marked the band's last studio effort before an extended hiatus beginning in late 2003 and represented the final album featuring guitarists Dimebag Darrell and drummer Vinnie Paul, both of whom passed away in subsequent years.
