Lee Andrews & the Hearts
Lee Andrews & the Hearts were an American doo-wop group formed in Philadelphia in 1953. The five-member ensemble recorded across numerous labels including Gotham, Rainbow, Mainline, Chess, United Artists, Grand, and Gowen. Under manager Kae Williams's direction, the group achieved their greatest commercial success in the mid-to-late 1950s, with three major hits: "Tear Drops," "Long Lonely Nights," and "Try the Impossible." The group remained active in the rhythm and blues and doo-wop scenes and were affected by the 2008 Universal fire, which destroyed master recordings from that era.
