The Penguins were an American doo-wop and rhythm & blues group active during the 1950s. Operating from 1954 to 1959, they became part of the vibrant vocal harmony scene that defined the era. The group's contributions to doo-wop and R&B helped establish the genre's popularity during a formative period in American popular music. The Penguins remain a notable entry in the history of mid-century vocal group traditions.
