Born McKinley Morganfield, he became widely recognized as a pioneer of Chicago blues, helping establish the electric blues sound that defined the genre in the mid-twentieth century. His work bridged delta blues traditions with contemporary urban styles, leaving a lasting impact on both blues and rock music.
