The Dells

The Dells were an American vocal group formed in 1953, originating from Chicago and becoming influential figures in soul and R&B music. Over nearly six decades, they blended elements of doo-wop, disco, and smooth soul to create their distinctive sound, drawing from both Chicago and Philadelphia soul traditions. The group maintained an active recording and performance career through 2012, establishing themselves as enduring contributors to American popular music. A significant portion of their master recordings were lost in the 2008 Universal fire, an event that affected their historical documentation and legacy preservation.
