David Bowie co-wrote this song with bassist George Murray and drummer Dennis Davis in September 1976. It first appeared on his eleventh studio album Low in 1977. A modified version became a concert staple during the Isolar II Tour. A live recording from these performances was featured as the opening track on a 7-inch EP released in 1978 to support his second live album, Stage. The EP achieved a chart position of number 54 on the UK Singles Chart in December 1978.
