Friends of Distinction was an American vocal ensemble that rose to prominence during the late 1960s and early 1970s. Founded by Harry Elston and Floyd Butler, the group became one of the era's most successful soul and R&B acts. Their breakthrough came with consecutive chart hits beginning in 1969, including the Gold-certified "Grazing in the Grass" and "Going in Circles," both reaching the top 15 of the Hot 100. The group sustained their momentum into 1970 with "Love or Let Me Be Lonely," which similarly charted in the top 15. Active from 1968 to 1975, Friends of Distinction left an enduring mark on soul music before disbanding.
