The Great Southern Trendkill is Pantera's eighth studio album, released in May 1996 through Elektra Records and East West Records. The band recorded the album across two locations: vocalist Phil Anselmo laid down vocal tracks at Trent Reznor's Nothing Studios in New Orleans, while the remaining band members completed instrumental work at Chasin Jason Studios in Texas. Terry Date produced the album, marking his final collaboration with the band since their 1990 debut Cowboys from Hell.
