The Black Sorrows

Black Sorrows is an Australian blues and roots ensemble established in Melbourne in 1983 by Joe Camilleri, who serves as vocalist, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. Beginning as an informal collective that performed covers spanning rhythm and blues, zydeco, and soul, the group eventually transitioned to developing its own compositions. Across more than four decades, Black Sorrows has recorded numerous studio albums drawing from blues, rock, soul, and Americana traditions. The band's membership has evolved significantly, with over 40 musicians contributing at various points, though Camilleri has remained the consistent creative force throughout its tenure.
