Michael Nesmith composed this song, which was initially recorded by the Paul Butterfield Blues Band for their 1966 album. The Monkees subsequently recorded their own version for their 1967 album More of the Monkees. The song experienced a revival in the late 1980s when Run–D.M.C. recorded an adapted version that achieved chart success in the United States.
