Sonny Boy Williamson
John Lee Curtis "Sonny Boy" Williamson was an influential American blues harmonica player and vocalist active from 1914 to 1948. He is credited with establishing the harmonica as a leading solo instrument in blues music. During the 1930s and 1940s, Williamson became one of the most prolific recording artists of his era, contributing harmonica work to hundreds of recordings by prominent blues musicians. His association with producer Lester Melrose and Bluebird Records helped establish his prominence in the Chicago blues scene. Among his notable compositions and interpretations are "Good Morning, School Girl," "Sugar Mama," "Early in the Morning," and "Stop Breaking Down," which remain influential in blues repertoires.
