M.C. Shan is an American rapper, singer, and record producer from Queensbridge in Queens, New York City. Born Shawn Moltke, he emerged as a notable figure in hip hop during the early 1980s. He gained widespread recognition with his 1986 single "The Bridge," a track produced by Marley Marl that achieved chart success on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs rankings. Through his work as both performer and producer, M.C. Shan contributed significantly to the development of New York hip hop during the genre's formative years.
