Kool & the Gang

Kool & the Gang is an American funk, soul, and R&B ensemble that originated in Jersey City, New Jersey, in 1964. Founded by brothers Robert "Kool" Bell and Ronald Bell alongside musicians including Dennis "Dee Tee" Thomas, Robert "Spike" Mickens, and others, the group initially performed under different names before adopting their signature moniker. After signing with De-Lite Records, they released their self-titled debut album in 1969. Throughout their career, Kool & the Gang have demonstrated remarkable versatility, incorporating elements of jazz, disco, rock, and pop into their evolving sound. The group has experienced considerable lineup changes while maintaining their influential presence in funk and contemporary soul music.
