Frankie Goes to Hollywood were an English electronic pop band formed in Liverpool who became prominent figures in 1980s pop music. The group featured Holly Johnson on vocals, Paul Rutherford, Mark O'Toole on bass, Brian Nash on guitar, and Peter Gill on drums. Notable for their provocative approach to performance and songwriting, Johnson and Rutherford were among the first openly gay musicians to achieve mainstream success, integrating themes of gay rights and sexuality into their work. Their fusion of synthesizer-driven pop with dance and new wave elements helped define the era's club and pop landscape. The band remained active until 2023.
