Jimmy Reed was an American blues musician and songwriter born in 1925. His innovative approach to electric blues earned him widespread popularity across diverse audiences. Reed became a prolific hitmaker during the late 1950s and early 1960s, with several songs crossing over to mainstream success. Tracks including "Honest I Do," "Baby What You Want Me to Do," "Big Boss Man," and "Bright Lights, Big City" charted on both rhythm and blues and pop charts, cementing his influence on the genre. Reed remained active in music until his death in 1976.
