Jeanine Deckers (1933–1985) was a Belgian singer-songwriter and member of a Dominican religious community. She achieved international fame in 1963 with the release of "Dominique," a French-language song that reached the top of the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart and became a major commercial success. Her debut album, released the same year, also gained widespread popularity. Known professionally as Sœur Sourire—or "The Singing Nun" in English-speaking markets—Deckers became one of the most notable recording artists of the early 1960s before her career declined in subsequent years.
