Jeannine Deckers, known professionally as the Singing Nun, was a Belgian singer-songwriter and member of a Dominican religious community. Born in 1933, she achieved international prominence in 1963 when her French-language song "Dominique" became a major chart success, reaching the top of the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and dominating charts worldwide. Her debut album accompanied this breakthrough, establishing her as a distinctive voice in popular music. Deckers remained active in music until her death in 1985.
