Sœur Sourire

Jeannine Deckers, known professionally as Soeur Sourire or "The Singing Nun," was a Belgian singer-songwriter and member of a Dominican Third Order community. Born in 1933, she rose to international prominence in 1963 following the release of her French-language song "Dominique," which achieved chart-topping success in the United States and elsewhere. Her debut album accompanied this breakthrough, establishing her as a notable figure in 1960s popular music. Deckers remained active until her death in 1985, leaving a distinctive legacy as a recording artist who emerged from religious life.
