A rock and roll single composed by Jerry Allison and Norman Petty, performed and released by Buddy Holly on September 20, 1957. Although The Crickets' name did not appear on the single's label, band members Joe B. Mauldin, Niki Sullivan, and Jerry Allison on drums contributed to the recording. The track was subsequently included on Holly's self-titled 1958 album. The song's title derived from Peggy Sue Gerron, who was in a long-term relationship with Allison at the time.
