Crest of a Knave is the sixteenth studio album by Jethro Tull, released in 1987. The band returned to a hard rock sound following a three-year break caused by vocalist Ian Anderson's throat infection, which altered his singing style. The album marked their most commercially successful period since the 1970s, receiving critical acclaim and winning the 1989 Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance, notably defeating Metallica's album in a widely considered upset.
