The Delfonics were an American R&B and soul vocal group from Philadelphia who achieved their greatest success during the late 1960s and early 1970s. Led by founding member William "Poogie" Hart, the ensemble became known for their smooth vocal harmonies and romantic ballads. Most of their hit songs, including "La-La," "Didn't I," "Break Your Promise," "I'm Sorry," and "Ready or Not Here I Come," were written by Hart and crafted in collaboration with producer Thom Bell. The group's sophisticated sound helped define the Philadelphia soul style of the era. Wilbert Hart remains the last surviving founding member of the influential outfit.
