"Why Don't You Write Me" appears on Bridge over Troubled Water, the fifth and final studio album by Simon & Garfunkel, released through Columbia Records in January 1970. The album followed the duo's work on The Graduate soundtrack, during a period when Art Garfunkel was acting in Catch-22 while Paul Simon concentrated on songwriting for most of the album's tracks.
