"America" is a composition by the American duo Simon & Garfunkel that appeared on their fourth studio album, Bookends, during 1968. Initially released as a B-side to accompany "For Emily, Whenever I May Find Her" in 1972 as part of a greatest hits compilation promotion, the track gained sufficient chart traction by July 1972 to be promoted to A-side status, subsequently re-entering the charts in November 1972.
