Paul Simon composed this folk rock song performed by the duo Simon & Garfunkel. Their studio performance of it secured them a recording contract with Columbia Records. The original acoustic rendition was captured in March 1964 at Columbia's New York recording facility for their first album, which came out in October but achieved modest commercial success. A revised electric version was released afterward and achieved number one status on the Billboard singles chart.
