Sign o' the Times is Prince's ninth studio album, released as a double album on March 31, 1987, by Paisley Park Records and Warner Bros. Records. It succeeded the Parade album and marked Prince's first solo release after dissolving the Revolution. The tracks were primarily recorded between 1986 and 1987 as part of sessions for several unreleased projects—Dream Factory, Camille, and Crystal Ball—before Prince compromised with record label officials to condense it into a double album format.
