"On the Turning Away" appears on Pink Floyd's 1987 album A Momentary Lapse of Reason. The track became a regular feature during the band's world tours supporting that album between 1987 and 1989, and was also performed during their 1994 Division Bell tour. David Gilmour later revived the song for a single performance on his 2006 On an Island Tour. Live versions were documented on Delicate Sound of Thunder (1988) and Live in Gdańsk (2008).
