Tommy Johnson

Tommy "Snake" Johnson was an American blues musician active from January 1896 until his death in November 1956. Based in the Delta region, he became known for his contributions to acoustic blues during the early-to-mid twentieth century. Johnson's work exemplified the Delta blues tradition, drawing on the raw, expressive qualities characteristic of the genre. He performed and recorded throughout his six-decade career, leaving a notable impact on blues music history. Johnson died of a heart attack at age 60.
