Subway to Sally is a German medieval metal band that emerged from Potsdam in the early 1990s. Blending folk and medieval traditions with metal and gothic elements, the group distinguishes itself through the incorporation of unconventional instruments for the genre, including bagpipes, shawm, violin, hurdy-gurdy, and lute, alongside oriental and classical music influences. This distinctive approach has established them as pioneers of the medieval metal sound. The band has released 12 studio albums, two live albums, and two live DVDs, building a dedicated following primarily across German-speaking regions, with limited concert activity in other territories.
