Sonny Boy Williamson II was an influential American blues harmonica player, singer, and songwriter born in 1912. Originally named Alex Miller, he performed under several names including Rice Miller and Little Boy Blue before adopting the stage name Sonny Boy Williamson to distinguish himself from an earlier Chicago blues musician of the same name. A pioneering electric blues harmonica stylist, Williamson achieved significant recording success during the 1950s and 1960s, leaving a lasting impact on blues and blues rock. He died in 1965.
