Royce da 5'9" is an American rapper from Detroit best known for his collaborative work with Eminem. The two artists met in 1997 and established the hip hop duo Bad Meets Evil the following year. Their 2011 single "Lighters" became a major commercial success, reaching number four on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The track led to the release of their debut EP, Hell: The Sequel, which debuted at the top of the Billboard 200. This project marked the peak of Montgomery's mainstream commercial achievement and solidified his presence in Midwest hip hop.
