Richard Hell and the Voidoids were an American punk rock band that emerged from New York City's CBGB scene in 1976. Led by Richard Hell, who previously played in the Neon Boys, Television, and the Heartbreakers, the group became a defining force in the city's punk movement during the late 1970s and early 1980s. Operating until 1983, they helped shape the sound and aesthetic of New York punk rock, blending raw energy with distinctive songwriting that influenced the broader punk and new wave landscape.
