Jimmy Cliff was a Jamaican musician born in 1944 who became one of the island's most influential artists. Working across ska, rocksteady, and reggae, he played a pivotal role in bringing reggae music to international audiences during his decades-long career. Cliff received numerous accolades, including two Grammy Awards from seven nominations, and was honored with Jamaica's Order of Merit, one of the nation's highest recognitions for contributions to the arts and sciences. He remained active until his death in November 2025.
