Albert King (1923–1992) was an American blues guitarist and singer widely recognized as one of the most influential figures in blues history. A left-handed player, he developed a distinctive deep, dramatic sound that became a model for countless blues and rock musicians. King achieved significant recognition with his 1967 album Born Under a Bad Sign, whose title track became an enduring standard. Alongside B. B. King and Freddie King—to whom he was unrelated—he was celebrated as one of the "Three Kings of the Blues," helping define electric and urban blues throughout the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s.
