Eva Cassidy
Eva Cassidy was an American singer and musician from Washington, D.C., active from 1963 until her death in 1996. Known for her distinctive soprano voice and emotional interpretive style, she performed across multiple genres including jazz, folk, blues, soul, and gospel. Cassidy released her debut album, The Other Side, in 1992, a collaborative effort with go-go musician Chuck Brown, followed by the live solo album Live at Blues Alley in 1996. Despite receiving recognition from the Washington Area Music Association, she remained largely unknown beyond her local region during her lifetime. She passed away at age 33.
