Aerosmith is an American rock band formed in Boston in 1970, consisting of lead vocalist Steven Tyler, bassist Tom Hamilton, drummer Joey Kramer, and guitarists Joe Perry and Brad Whitford. The group's sound draws from blues-based hard rock while incorporating elements of pop rock, heavy metal, glam metal, and rhythm and blues. Known colloquially as the "Bad Boys from Boston," the band has profoundly influenced subsequent rock artists. The songwriting partnership between Tyler and Perry, dubbed the "Toxic Twins," has been central to the group's creative output and enduring impact on rock music.
