This power ballad by the hard rock group Aerosmith was created as the theme for the 1998 science fiction disaster film Armageddon, which featured the lead singer's daughter in the cast. Songwriter Diane Warren originally imagined a different artist performing it. The band was not the initial choice; U2 was approached first, and Aerosmith only became involved after casting decisions were finalized. Radio airplay began in mid-May 1998.
