Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) is an English rock band formed in Birmingham in 1970 by Jeff Lynne, Roy Wood, and drummer Bev Bevan. The group distinguished itself by blending pop sensibilities with classical orchestral arrangements, creating a distinctive sonic identity. Following Roy Wood's exit in 1972, Jeff Lynne assumed creative control as the band's primary leader and songwriter, steering their artistic direction through their initial run until 1986. Throughout their career spanning multiple decades, Lynne and Bevan remained the core constants, establishing ELO as a significant force in rock and progressive music.
