Steel Pulse is a British roots reggae band originating from Handsworth, Birmingham. The group formed at Handsworth Wood Boys School, initially featuring David Hinds, Basil and Colin Gabbidon, Ronald McQueen on bass, and Mykaell Riley. Since their formation in 1975, Steel Pulse have become pioneers in the reggae genre, achieving significant international recognition. They made history as the first non-Jamaican act to win a Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album, and have received numerous additional Grammy nominations throughout their career, establishing themselves as influential figures in roots reggae music.
