Kitarō (Masanori Takahashi) is a Japanese composer and musician born in 1953, recognized as a leading figure in new-age and electronic instrumental music. His career spans decades of creating ambient soundscapes that blend traditional and contemporary elements. Kitarō achieved significant international acclaim, earning a Grammy Award for Best New Age Album in 1999 and garnering a record 16 nominations within that category. His contributions to film music include a Golden Globe Award for the score to Heaven & Earth in 1993. His work continues to define the electronic and space music genres.
