Canadian-American artist Paul Anka composed this song in 1960 as a gift for Annette Funicello, a Mouseketeer toward whom he harbored romantic feelings. Anka's own recording achieved significant chart success, reaching the second position on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, fourth on Canada's CHUM Charts, and thirty-third on the UK Singles Chart, though it was surpassed on the American charts by Percy Faith's "Theme from A Summer Place".
