Written and produced by John Farrar, the track achieved significant commercial success, reaching number three on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and number seven on the Adult Contemporary chart. It also marked her first top 20 country hit in two years, peaking at number 20 on that chart. The song reached number two in Australia following its August 1978 release there. Newton-John later performed it at the 1979 Grammy Awards ceremony.
