Jimmy Dorsey & His Orchestra was an American jazz ensemble led by clarinetist and saxophonist James Francis Dorsey. Active from 1935 to 1953, the orchestra became known for recording numerous jazz and popular standards. Dorsey composed and performed hits including "I'm Glad There Is You" and "It's the Dreamer in Me," alongside notable recordings such as "Amapola," "Brazil," and "So Rare." He also appeared on classic recordings with prominent artists including Bing Crosby and Louis Armstrong. Dorsey's early clarinet work on landmark jazz pieces from the 1920s and 1930s helped establish his reputation as a significant figure in American jazz.
