Show No Mercy is the debut full-length album by American thrash metal band Slayer, released in December 1983 through Metal Blade Records. The band secured their record deal after label head Brian Slagel attended one of their performances featuring an Iron Maiden cover. The band financed the album themselves using vocalist Tom Araya's savings from his work as a respiratory therapist combined with funds borrowed from guitarist Kerry King's father. The band subsequently toured extensively to promote the album, bringing along close friends and family members who assisted with technical aspects like lighting and sound during performances.
