Hell Awaits is the second studio album by the American thrash metal band Slayer, released through Metal Blade Records. Following the commercial success of the band's debut album, which became the label's top-selling release, producer Brian Slagel decided to finance and release a second album. Unlike the first recording, which was entirely funded by the band members themselves, Slagel contributed to the recording budget alongside the band and brought in Ron Fair as a collaborator, despite Fair's limited background in heavy metal production.
