The third studio album by Santana, released in September 1971 through Columbia Records, is frequently called Santana III or "Man with an Outstretched Hand" based on its cover art. It represented the final album by the band's original Woodstock-era lineup before their 2016 reunion. Many critics and listeners viewed it as the group's commercial and artistic peak, before the band shifted toward experimental jazz fusion and Latin music in later work. The album marked the debut of 16-year-old guitarist Neal Schon as a band member.
