Alí Primera was a Venezuelan singer-songwriter, composer, and poet born in Coro, Falcón State, who became one of the nation's most prominent figures in the nueva canción movement. Active from 1941 until his death in 1985, Primera used his music as a vehicle for political activism, crafting songs that addressed themes of exploitation, repression, and popular resistance. His work resonated deeply with audiences across Venezuela, earning him the popular designation El Cantor del Pueblo. In 2005, the Venezuelan government officially recognized his musical legacy as part of the country's national heritage.
