Adore is the fourth studio album by the Smashing Pumpkins, released in June 1998 on Virgin Records. Following the massive commercial success of their previous album and world tour, MTV identified it as one of the most anticipated releases of that year. The recording process was difficult due to internal band conflicts, creative uncertainty following three consecutive successful albums, and the drummer's departure. The frontman later described the album as created by a band in decline.
