G/Z/R is a heavy metal group founded by Geezer Butler, the bassist and lyricist of Black Sabbath. Originating in the United States, the band emerged in 1995 and has operated under multiple names throughout its existence, including g//z/r, geezer, and GZR across different releases and eras. The project blends industrial and sludge metal influences with traditional heavy metal aesthetics. Despite sharing Butler's involvement, this band represents a distinct venture from his earlier 1985 solo attempt, the Geezer Butler Band. The group remains a notable secondary project for Butler, combining his trademark songwriting approach with experimental sonic textures.
